Your swimming pool water could become cloudy because of a variety of reasons. Both a high Ph value and a high alkalinity level of the water can make your pool appear cloudy. It may also be caused when the level of stabilizer becomes too high, and/or when the level of chlorine falls below a point. A high level of calcium hardness or high metal content can also cause make swimming pool water cloudy.

There can be other causes also for this; for example, growth of algae inside the pool. At times, the filter also needs to be cleaned to avoid the problem of cloudy pool water. A high content of many microscopic organisms inside the water may also make the swimming pool water cloudy.

The task of dealing with cloudy swimming pool water lies with first identifying the cause. For milky water, you can get it tested for stabilizer level. If this is the problem, you should drain out some water, and fill it again with fresh water. If the cause is pollutants and dusts, you can use a coagulant. If you use sand filters, you should change the used sand with new ones.

To avoid this problem, you can take some precautions. To begin with, sunlight exposure should be good. All the pool equipments, including the cleaners, should be cleaned thoroughly and properly. Adding of oxidizing agents into the water should be done regularly. Besides, the pool water should be tested regularly by an expert. Floating toys on the pool should also be cleaned. The pool filter must be cleaned chemically.

Proper algicides dosage should be added from time to time. The filter should be run for at least 15 minutes everyday. Brushes, vacuums, and hoses should also be cleaned. All pool equipments should get maximum sun exposure. Calcium hardness, alkalinity, Ph, and sanitizer level should be kept in check. The water should be pretreated for metal content, using a pool magnet.

In addition, you must enter the pool only after a bath to get rid of cosmetics and body oil. Plants should not be left hanging over the pool, as they could be a big source of pollutants. Last but not least, the pool needs to be kept in use. It should not be left unused for too long.

Cloudy swimming pool water can be an effective indicator that you are not maintaining your pool properly. The precautionary steps mentioned are very much necessary if you want your pool to be clear, sparklingly clean, and, of course, healthy.
